Kalim Beach
is actually a continuation of Patong Beach on the northern curve of the
coastline. It is located just north of the artistic rocky outcroppings
which separate it from Patong beach.
It is a small, charming beach with rocky points and coral reefs. Kalim is a quiet alternative to bustling Patong Beach, yet just in convenient walking distance to the tourist services and night life of Patong.
At low tide, the coral reefs at the northern end of Kalim Beach are close enough to the shore to be explored on foot. They contain an amazing variety of living creatures. Seashells, crustaceans, tiny fishes, starfish and sea cucumbers are found in the coral pools. Caution: It is not wise to walk barefoot because some of the rocks are razor sharp. Wear a strong pair of sandals or track shoes.
The northern half of the beach is exposed to the monsoon winds, and on occasion from June to September the waves become big enough for surfing here.

Patong Beach has everything. It is a long beach which has many sea-sports.
It has drinks, food and massage available. It borders the city of Patong
so hundreds of shops are within a minutes walk. It has several rows of
chairs and parasols for rent anywhere on the beach. It has inexpensive
guesthouses and opulent five-star hotels. It is brimming with every kind
of possible activity. Naturally, it has lots of people. Patong Beach is
beautiful spot. However, many people flock to there so if a busy, somewhat
restless atmosphere does not suit you, Patong Beach should probably be
taken in small doses. If you are looking for a different environment than
many of the other beaches then Patong Beach is the place for you. This
is not to say that Patong Beach is not relaxing and peaceful. It is simply
comprised of mixture of experienced party goers who create a more energetic
setting.
The amenities and conveniences of Patong Beach are incredible. It is a very suitable beach for a stay of multiple days. All types of hotels, restaurants and activities are available. However, if you are looking for something different, remember that Patong Beach is unique among the beaches of Phuket and not the norm. It is the only one which can actually be called “busy,” while still retaining the idyllic sense that comes automatically on the Phuket beaches. For many people, it is exactly what they want.
